There will be practice, film and conditioning, for the varsity on Thursday morning. The rest of the weekend is a free weekend to go and enjoy snow or sun, whatever it might be. Our emphasis this week will be FIST.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This week is also Senior Parent Night. We honor the senior players at a banquet after the season is over but every year we honor the parents of the senior players just before our last regular season home game. It is a way to show our appreciation to the parents. Thank you for allowing us to coach your sons.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Coach G: What a great team win! I want to emphasize that each player doing his job with extraordinary effort makes a huge difference in how the team plays. That was a great example of the 3 phases of our team working together. There were mistakes made but because of the energy and team effort it is possible to overcome them and succeed. Team energy and enthusiasm overcomes many mistakes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Coach G: We emphasized enthusiasm and we played and encouraged with good enthusiasm.  We also emphasized win one play at a time and focus on the current play. Many times our focus was on what had already happened, we were not "turning the page".  Frustration changes the focus. During 2-a-days the emphasis is on basic fundamental football and now during the halfway point of the season it is again an emphasis to focus on the basic fundamentals of football. "Mighty as one, Invicible Together" is the theme for homecoming and the football team is using that theme also.&lt;br /&gt;Games: Varsity at home, JV at Fremont, Soph at home.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Coach G: It was an excellent week of practice. There was an incredible amount of school spirit all week in and around the school which culminated at the football game with our great student body creating energy from the stands. Each player did their job to make the team "invincible together!" There is a growing expectation of excellence from each player that leads to improvement each week. This is also the week that the boys who came to our annual Little Vikings Football Camp get into the game free. To do that the players must be accompanied by an adult to the East side (visitors) ticket booth. Each player who came to camp is on a Pass List. &lt;strong&gt;Go Vikes!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Coach G: &lt;/strong&gt;Football is a process. The master archer seeks not the target but to become the bow, is about focusing on the process over the product. Belief and urgency are 2 lessons we learned this week in a great game against an excellent Syracuse team. The defense played with great urgency and belief in themselves all game but it took until the final drive for the offense to show its greatness. Thursday at 3:30 the Sophomores play at Home and the JV plays at Bountiful. Friday the Varsity plays at 7:00 at Home. What a great week to be a Viking! Along with the game there is a Food Drive sponsored by the football team. "Fill the Truck" is the theme, there will be trucks at the entrance to the football game on Friday. Bring canned food items to put in the truck. On Saturday the football players will go to the food bank to donate and stock the food.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Coach G:&lt;/span&gt; We don't focus on winning.  We focus on being winners, that is something we can control in everything we do.  An example of being a winner was the food drive. The game is at Orem at 7pm on Friday.  Practice this week is at 6-8pm Monday - Thursday.  Friday we will have the team dinner at 2:30, team mtg in commons at 4:00 and bus leaves at 4:30. There were 8 teams with 12-15 per team. Berserkr Ball was won by Jake Thompson's team. Truck Push/Pull was won by Brayden Beck's team, Mason Boddy's team ran the truck into the goalpost (sorry Jake). For the tug of war they were seeded based on how they did in the first 2 competitions. Instead of a 2 day football camp we are going to do a summer long Speed and Power camp that will be held every Monday and Wednesday at 8-9 am at the high school weight room and field.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Our goal&lt;/strong&gt; is to be able to help these young men become stronger and faster. The emphasis will be on general strength through body weight, medicine ball and dumbell exercises.
