The emphasis this week is going "back to the basics". During 2-a-days the emphasis is on basic fundamental football and now during the halfway point of the season it is again an emphasis to focus on the basic fundamentals of football. It is not complicated the fundamentals are blocking and tackling, throwing and catching, kicking and protecting the ball, pursuing and playing team football.
Coach G: We made mistakes and lost energy. We must focus on what we can control and trust each other to do the same. Keep working and compete for everything!

Fremont and Homecoming Week
Homecoming is a week filled with activities for the student body but the football team has one job and that is to prepare to play their best on Thursday and Friday. "Mighty as one, Invicible Together" is the theme for homecoming and the football team is using that theme also.
Games: Varsity at home, JV at Fremont, Soph at home.
Coach G: It was an excellent week of practice. There was an incredible amount of school spirit all week in and around the school which culminated at the football game with our great student body creating energy from the stands. Each player did their job to make the team "invincible together!" There is a growing expectation of excellence from each player that leads to improvement each week. It was impressive to see so many players (winners) helping at the "Buddy Walk" on Saturday.

Clearfield Week
Sophomores and Varsity are at Clearfield. JV at home vs. Clearfield.
Notes: Team and individual pictures were handed out last week. There are still some in the office.
Next week is Homecoming.
Sweats arrived last week for those who ordered them.
Coach G: The goal was to be more physical this week. It was a great week of practice and an awesome finish with 3, 4 and outs by the D and 4 TDs by the O. There is still plenty of work to do to put a complete game together but this team has heart.

Syracuse Week and Little Vikes
This week we play the Syracuse Titans (varsity at home on Friday). This is also the week that the boys who came to our annual Little Vikings Football Camp get into the game free. To do that the players must be accompanied by an adult to the East side (visitors) ticket booth. Each player who came to camp is on a Pass List. Go Vikes!!
Coach G: Football is a process. The master archer seeks not the target but to become the bow, is about focusing on the process over the product. Belief and urgency are 2 lessons we learned this week in a great game against an excellent Syracuse team. The defense played with great urgency and belief in themselves all game but it took until the final drive for the offense to show its greatness. We are "becoming the bow".

Bountiful Week and Food Drive
This week we play Bountiful. Thursday at 3:30 the Sophomores play at Home and the JV plays at Bountiful. Friday the Varsity plays at 7:00 at Home. What a great week to be a Viking! Along with the game there is a Food Drive sponsored by the football team. "Fill the Truck" is the theme, there will be trucks at the entrance to the football game on Friday. Bring canned food items to put in the truck. On Saturday the football players will go to the food bank to donate and stock the food.
Coach G: We don't focus on winning. We focus on being winners, that is something we can control in everything we do. An example of being a winner was the food drive. The football team delivered food and money to the food bank on Saturday morning.
